Dr. Vivian Bucay: Why Oxygen Matters in Skin Health
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Vivian Bucay discusses the role of oxygen in healthy skin function and explains how AO2 CLEAR’s patented oxygen nanobubble technology differs from traditional topical oxygen approaches.
Video Transcript
I’m Dr. Vivian Bucay. I’m a board-certified dermatologist in practice in San Antonio, Texas, and I’ve been in practice since 1991. I started incorporating AO2 CLEAR into my skincare regimen since learning about it from a dear and trusted colleague. The real value is, it’s so versatile. It can be used for skin wellness, for maintenance. It can be incorporated into any skincare routine because, after all, oxygen is vital for good functioning of the skin.
So a lot of patients ask me about oxygen, a cream that raises oxygen levels, and oxygen facials. But, you know, AO2 CLEAR is so much more science than that. It is a patented technology that allows delivery of nanobubbles of oxygen that can then help with regular cellular function. It’s not the same as having oxygen sprayed on your skin. Again, this is a patented delivery system so that you know that the oxygen is getting delivered where it needs to be.
So whether you’re using it to help an existing condition or just to optimize skin wellness, AO2 CLEAR is really easy to use.
Dr. Ted Lain: Unveiling the Power of Molecular Oxygen in AO2
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Ted Lain discusses molecular oxygen in AO2 CLEAR, why the two-ingredient formula can be useful for sensitive or over-exfoliated skin, and how oxygen delivery differs from more complex acne products.
Video Transcript
One of the benefits of AO2 is that it’s really the cleanest product you could ever imagine. Its ingredients are so simple: distilled water and molecular oxygen.
So if you have sensitive skin, if you’re dealing with skin that’s been over-exfoliated because you’ve been trying so many products to help with your acne, AO2 is wonderful for you because all it has is oxygen and water.
And it’s important to point out that it’s molecular oxygen because atomic oxygen actually can be bad for the skin. But molecular oxygen, because it’s so stable, we are able to harness the benefits of oxygen and not worry about some of the harmful effects that atomic oxygen may have.
Honestly, if you are someone that is using multiple products for your acne, using AO2 is a great addition because it delivers that oxygen deep to the pore to help decrease the amount of bacteria. But it also doesn’t have all the multiple ingredients that could cause more irritation to your skin.
Dr. Valerie Hanft: Pure Oxygen
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Valerie Hanft explains that AO2 CLEAR does not use hydrogen peroxide as its source of oxygen and discusses the difference between this approach and other oxygen-based skincare products.
Video Transcript
Another question that has come up is, do we use hydrogen peroxide to obtain the oxygen in the product? And the answer is no.
So most of the products on the market that offer oxygen in their products are using hydrogen peroxide to generate that oxygen, which unfortunately also generates free radicals, which can cause oxidative damage to your skin.
You know, we’re always looking for antioxidants, so we don’t want that. AO2 CLEAR does not use hydrogen peroxide. We get our oxygen in pure oxygen form from our nanobubbles.
Miranda Wilson, MSN-FNP: Introduction to AO2 and Oxygen
About This Video
Miranda Wilson, MSN-FNP, explains the concept behind oxygen nanobubble skincare, how the size of the nanobubbles relates to skin pores, and how she incorporates AO2 CLEAR into a skincare routine.
Video Transcript
There are literally so many different skincare products on the market right now. So when I find something that uses science and skincare, you know I have to try it.
One of the main things that oxygen is good for, other than breathing, of course, is its antimicrobial benefit, AKA it just kills bacteria. When I found a product that takes the power of oxygen and puts it in a skincare line, I was geeking out.
AO2 CLEAR is literally the cleanest product on the market. It’s literally just distilled water and billions of oxygen nanobubbles. And I know what you’re probably thinking. You’re like, “Miranda, what is the difference between the oxygen around us and the oxygen in this water?”
I’m so glad you asked. So here is the oxygen size that we breathe. That’s the oxygen all around us. Here is your pore, and here are these little tiny oxygen nanobubbles. They were able to create an oxygen molecule that was 1,000 times smaller than your actual pore. That way, it can penetrate into the pore. And what happens when you flood your pores with oxygen nanobubbles? You decrease inflammation, you kill bacteria, that accelerates healing, and they’ve even found that it could help with stubborn rosacea and eczema.
So you take their exfoliating pads, put it in the Petri dish, take your AO2 water, fill up your Petri dish. Once it’s all soaked up, you take the sponge and just rub it on your face. I’ll let this air dry and just continue with the rest of my skincare. It’s literally that easy. I’m obsessed.
Zvi Yaniv, PhD: A Better Approach to Oxygen Delivery to Your Skin
About This Video
AO2 technology developer Zvi Yaniv, PhD, discusses different approaches used by products that claim to deliver oxygen and explains AO2 CLEAR’s use of dissolved oxygen and concentrated oxygen nanobubbles.
Video Transcript
There are many, many products on the market that claim they can deliver oxygen. Sometimes they appear as liquid oxygen, sometimes they appear as stable oxygen, and sometimes they claim that they have hydrogen peroxide that transforms to oxygen in the product.
We tested a number of these products in my laboratory, and we did not find the properties that AO2 CLEAR has. Indeed, AO2 CLEAR has the ability to infuse oxygen in the skin at very, very high quantities because it has two ways of delivering oxygen.
When you measure the DO, dissolved oxygen, in regular water, you obtain like seven milligrams per liter of oxygen. This is regular, close to what is in the air.
When we deliver nanobubbles to the water, two things happen. One is the nanobubbles, being at the very high pressure of oxygen, basically bleed a little oxygen into the water. And as a result of that, the DO of the water is increased when you have nanobubbles of oxygen in water.
So you have two types of delivery: one by increasing the dissolved oxygen, and the other one by the huge concentration of nanobubbles, around one billion nanobubbles per milliliter. And the oxygen in the water is ions, meaning ions of hydroxyl and hydrogen. While in the bubble, we have molecular hydrogen. This is the differentiation, and the peculiar properties, of our product called AO2 CLEAR.
Dr. Valerie Hanft: How AO2 CLEAR Treats Different Types of Acne
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Valerie Hanft explains the difference between inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne and discusses how AO2 CLEAR’s oxygen delivery relates to clogged pores, blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, pustules, and nodules.
Video Transcript
How AO2 CLEAR treats several types of acne. I’m Dr. Valerie Hanft, board-certified dermatologist.
So we can divide acne into basically two types: inflammatory and non-inflammatory. Non-inflammatory acne consists of the clogged pore, blackheads, and whiteheads. Inflammatory acne are your typical pimples, pustules, or those deeper cysts that we call nodules.
AO2 CLEAR can treat both. The clogged pore, or the blackhead, is triggered by a low-oxygen environment that impairs the turnover of the lining of the hair follicle, or the lining of the pore. So that causes a clogging, and oil comes in, bacteria come in. But the initial problem is the clogging of the pore, which creates the blackhead.
AO2 CLEAR delivers oxygen to this environment, reversing that low-oxygen environment and enabling proper turnover of the lining of the pore, so the blackhead does not form. That’s how we address this in the non-inflammatory type.
For the inflammatory type of acne, there’s a different mechanism. So we know that inflammatory acne is triggered by the bacteria Cutibacterium acnes. And that’s an anaerobic bacteria, so it does not do well in an environment that’s rich in oxygen.
So by flooding the pores with oxygen, AO2 CLEAR behaves as a natural antibiotic.
So with those two mechanisms, we’re addressing both the inflammatory and non-inflammatory types of acne. So it will treat your clogged pores and your pimples.
Dr. Ellen Gendler: Introduction to AO2 CLEAR
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Ellen Gendler shares her experience with AO2 CLEAR, discusses oxygen nanobubble technology, and explains how she has incorporated the product into her own routine and with patients.
Video Transcript
I wanted to share another product with you that I tried, and I’m really enjoying using it. And my patients are enjoying using it too for a specific purpose. It’s a cool product.
It’s called AO2, and it’s based on nanobubbles of oxygen. It’s very interesting technology that was invented by an Israeli physicist who was trying to treat his own neuropathy on his feet.
We all know that oxygen, if delivered in high concentrations to the skin, can help with lots of things, including healing, including acne, and who knows what else.
So this company has invented a way to deliver oxygen in nanobubbles to help you deliver it to the skin.
I thought it was kind of fascinating, so I asked if I could try it. And what it is, it comes in this cool packet, and you quickly pour the tiniest bit of the liquid into this little Petri dish they give you.
And then these delightful little Japanese sponges go in, and it suffuses this little sponge with just enough liquid that you wipe over your face. And you can do this twice a day.
I’ve been doing this in patients with acne, including lots of teenagers. I’ve been doing it in patients who have had Fraxel lasers and comparing it one side to the other to see which side’s healing faster. And indeed, it really seems to work.
And then in myself, I don’t have acne and I didn’t just do a Fraxel. So what I do is, in the morning and at night after I wash my face, I use it. And it’s like better than a toner because you’re not putting an active on your face that’s going to irritate. But the sponge is really nice in helping to remove whatever residue is there.
So again, as usual, I don’t get anything for this. But I called the company and said, “Listen, I like this product a lot. I’m going to talk about it on Instagram. Maybe you want to give someone who hears it a little bit of a discount.”
So they said if people write in Gendler25, they will get a 25% discount.
I think you should try it if you’re interested in cool new things that are easy. It’s AO2 CLEAR, and let me know what you think.
Dr. Valerie Hanft: AO2 CLEAR for Hormonal Acne
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Valerie Hanft explains what happens in the skin with hormonal acne, including changes in sebum production, follicular turnover, and the low-oxygen environment, and discusses where AO2 CLEAR fits into that process.
Video Transcript
Why AO2 CLEAR is so effective for hormonal acne. I’m Dr. Valerie Hanft, board-certified dermatologist.
So hormones that trigger that cyclical acne, usually lower face, deeper nodules, take longer to resolve, and happen in women in their teens all the way through their 40s and even older, are triggered by a change in hormonal balance.
And this causes an increase in sebum, or oil production, that clogs the pores. At the more basic level, a clogged pore is triggered by improper turnover of the lining of the hair follicle. And this is exacerbated in a low-oxygen environment.
And then the sebum comes in, the bacteria come in, and that triggers an inflammatory bump or pimple or nodule.
AO2 CLEAR delivers oxygen to the pore, so it reverses that low-oxygen environment and opens up the pore so these clogging things don’t happen.
So while AO2 CLEAR does not address the hormonal changes at the start, it addresses the effects that those hormonal changes trigger.
Dr. Valerie Hanft: Why You Can Use AO2 CLEAR Even If You Don't Have Acne
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Valerie Hanft discusses uses of AO2 CLEAR beyond acne and explains the reported and theoretical benefits of oxygen for hydration, skin texture, collagen production, and incorporating other skincare products.
Video Transcript
Why AO2 CLEAR can be the product that you go to even if you don’t suffer from any sort of acne issues. I’m Dr. Valerie Hanft, board-certified dermatologist.
We know the oxygen in AO2 CLEAR turns on fibroblasts, which are the cells that increase collagen production. So therefore, it can help with fine lines. If used long enough, theoretically, it can help with wrinkles.
We know that oxygen has hydrating properties for the skin, so it acts as a natural moisturizer. AO2 CLEAR basically creates a nice canvas that you can apply other products afterwards, and AO2 CLEAR will not interact with those.
But overall, we’ve noticed from users that they report that their skin feels smoother and more hydrated with repeated use of AO2 CLEAR.
Dr. Ellen Gendler: Hack for Soft Skin
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Ellen Gendler demonstrates a skincare routine she uses for softer-feeling skin and shows how she incorporates AO2 CLEAR after exfoliation.
Video Transcript
I wanted to show you one of my favorite hacks for having really soft skin. The first one is using this thing called Instant Peel, and I’m going to demonstrate for you on part of my face, just one area. It’s a calcium carbonate peeling cream agent, and you put a little tiny bit on one area of your face and you actually start to rub and roll. It’s called gommage.
This is the technique, and you can see as you go along, you start rolling. These are all little dead skin flakes off your face, and you do it one area at a time. I’m just going to demonstrate.
It looks very pink afterwards, but it goes away in a minute. I finish it with something that I do every single morning and night. I love this. This is AO2 CLEAR, which is oxygen nanobubbles impregnated into water.
And just fill the little sponge and dish that they give you with a pouch, and this gets wiped all over your face. It’s pure oxygen and water.
My face obviously looks red now because I’ve just been rubbing it forcefully, but it’ll subside in another two minutes or so. Your skin just feels so soft. It’s crazy.
ZVI YANIV, PhD: WHY AO2 CLEAR IS HYDRATING
About This Video
AO2 technology developer and scientist Zvi Yaniv, PhD, explains the role of water in AO2 CLEAR and discusses how oxygen affects interactions between water molecules and the skin to support hydration.
Video Transcript
Water is one of the important compounds of AO2 CLEAR. Water molecules are very peculiar. They have a positive side and a negative side, and as a result, they can create between themselves bonds that do not let the water get free movement in the liquid. As a result, we say that the water is denser.
Now, the same kind of bonds can be created between the water molecules and charged molecules in the skin, and as a result, the water on the skin will stay longer, helping hydration. This property was proven by scientists in many instances.
In fact, there is a paper in the Journal of Dermatology that shows clearly that by having more oxygen in water, we have more bonds, and as a result, the water is stickier to the skin.
DR. VIVIAN BUCAY: POST-PROCEDURE ENHANCEMENT
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Vivian Bucay discusses why she incorporates AO2 CLEAR into post-procedure skincare and explains the benefits of oxygen nanobubbles for inflammation, recovery, and skin wellness.
Video Transcript
As a dermatologist who has a focus on cosmetic dermatology in addition to skin wellness, I’m always looking for a post-procedure product that is well tolerated, easy to apply, and has a very low risk of causing any side effects. So what better than nanobubbles of oxygen in water? The beauty of nanobubbles of oxygen in water is its ability to reduce inflammation. And when you do reduce some of that inflammation, recovery speeds up.
So for patients who have a procedure but wanna get back to work quickly, but also have minimized discomfort, using AO2 CLEAR makes perfect sense. Because it’s well tolerated, it’s not going to clog up the skin. It doesn’t contain other ingredients that can be potentially irritating.
And by increasing the amount of oxygen available in the skin, it also helps to reduce the amount of harmful bacteria that could contribute to infections following a procedure.
THE LADY DERM DOCS: WHY OUR TEAM RECOMMENDS AO2 CLEAR
About This Video
The Lady Derm Docs and their clinical team share why they use AO2 CLEAR in their practices, including after chemical peels, laser treatments, and other procedures, and discuss its calming, soothing, and antibacterial effects.
Video Transcript
Dr. Orlinsky: Dr. Simmons-O’Brien, good morning.
Dr. O’Brien: Good morning.
Dr. Orlinsky: So, you know, we’re obsessed with AO2, but can you tell all of our lovely nurses here why you love it in a nutshell?
Dr. O’Brien: I think our lovely nurses should tell me why I love it.
Dr. Orlinsky: Oh, okay. I think that’s a great idea.
Nurse 1: AO2 CLEAR, I could compare to putting your face in a hyperbaric chamber.
Dr. Orlinsky: Yes, that sounds good. I love it.
Nurse 2: Super, super oxygenation. Super clean afterwards. Excellent.
Nurse 3: I can’t top that, but it feels refreshing on, and it is a great boost for your traditional cleanser and other topicals that you’re using.
Dr. O’Brien: Boost is a really good word because it does exactly that.
Dr. Orlinsky: Yeah, we like to boost after, like, chemical peels and after lasers. It really does decrease the inflammation.
Dr. O’Brien: Whether it’s hair laser removal or skin rejuvenation, it absolutely helps to soothe and heal the skin.
Nurse 4: I was going to say that we use it right after procedures. It really helps calm the skin down and helps the redness, which is what a lot of people struggle with. So just in the morning, in the evening, if you just want a quick refresh, and just to help calm your skin down before putting on your other products, it’s great.
Nurse 5: I love the calming and soothing effects, as well as the antibacterial effects.
Dr. O’Brien: How many of us use it?
[All raise their hands.]
AESTHETIC LASER PROFESSIONAL: WHY AO2 CLEAR IS A POST-PROCEDURE MUST-HAVE
About This Video
Licensed professional laser technician, Jamie Villarreal, CLHRP, shares how she incorporates AO2 CLEAR into post-procedure home care following treatments such as microneedling, chemical peels, and lasers.
Video Transcript
Hey, friends, I’m Jamie. I’m a licensed professional laser technician, and I’m gonna share with you a few of my must-have items for post-procedure. Now, whether you just had microneedling, a chemical peel, or a laser treatment, your provider likely set you up with a home care regimen. One way I like to really elevate my home care routine after a treatment is using AO2 CLEAR. AO2 CLEAR is literally the cleanest skincare there is on the market. It is simply distilled water and billions of oxygen nanobubbles. Bacteria can’t thrive in an oxygenated environment.
So by using AO2 CLEAR, you’re gonna reduce the risk of breakout, reduce breakouts overall, and decrease inflammation, which is going to rapidly accelerate your healing time. It’s also incredibly easy to use twice daily after cleansing. You’re gonna take your AO2 CLEAR. It comes with a little tray and a whole pack of all of these sponges. Put a sponge in the tray, soak up all the AO2 CLEAR, and then simply press the sponge into the skin and let it air dry. AO2 CLEAR can also be used in your regular routine. I’ve been using it twice daily for the past four months now, and I’m obsessed with it. I have acne-prone skin, and I treat acne in clinics, so finding a product that’s gonna help keep the skin clear while reducing inflammation and having no risk of adverse event is a win in my book.
If you’ve had a treatment that requires numbing cream, you’re probably familiar with what a greasy, disgusting mess that can leave your hairline. I know for myself, when I get a treatment done, I am likely going to be wearing a slicked-back bun for the next two days. But I do need to wash my hair eventually, and I wanna be mindful about what products I’m introducing around my freshly treated skin. A lot of hair care products have alpha hydroxy acids or acne-causing ingredients in them. Side note: if you struggle with acne around the perimeter of your face, there’s a good chance that your hair products are a contributing factor.
THE LADY DERM DOCS: APPLYING AO2 CLEAR AFTER A LASER TREATMENT
About This Video
The Lady Derm Docs demonstrate how they apply AO2 CLEAR immediately following an acne laser treatment and discuss its soothing effects on post-procedure redness and skin.
Video Transcript
So, our lovely patient, we just finished an acne treatment using Lutronic’s DermaV, which is a 532-nanometer, 1064-nanometer laser for acne. And now we’re gonna use the AO2 CLEAR.
We have saturated the sponges with the AO2 CLEAR, so it’s gonna be very soothing on the skin. We’re actually gonna put a little bit more. You wanna have it nice and wet, so we saturate the sponge with the AO2 CLEAR. I’m gonna put this on. It should feel nice and cool and soothing.
I love how it helps to take the redness out of the skin. It’s oxygenated water nanobubbles, delivering the best type of oxygen around that can kill bacteria and soothe and heal the skin. How does it feel? Yeah, perfect. We’ll just let that dry.
DR. TED LAIN: IMPLEMENTING AO2 CLEAR INTO YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Ted Lain demonstrates how easily AO2 CLEAR can be incorporated into a daily skincare routine after cleansing and before other skincare products.
Video Transcript
Hi, my name is Dr. Ted Lain. I’m a board-certified dermatologist practicing in Austin, Texas. Just wanna show you how easy AO2 CLEAR is to implement in your skincare regimen. It really is just this, which is the bottle of that nanobubbled, molecular oxygenated distilled water, and a pad. So you just apply the water to the pad and wipe down your face.
It takes about five seconds. I recommend doing it after you cleanse your face. So you wash your face, you towel dry, you apply the AO2 CLEAR. It quickly dries on the face, and it allows you to then progress to the next steps in your regimen.
What I’ve heard from multiple patients is that it improves the regimen that follows. It just makes everything work a little bit better and is so easy to implement in your regimen. It absolutely will not cause any irritation, which I really love for my patients.

DR. ELLEN GENDLER: AO2 CLEAR OVER TONERS
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Ellen Gendler explains why she does not typically recommend facial toners and shares how she uses AO2 CLEAR between cleansing and the rest of her skincare routine.
Video Transcript
I don’t believe in using toners for your face. What’s the point? You put an active and irritating acid on after you wash your face, and then you’re trying to put another active on afterwards. I found this product, AO2 CLEAR. I don’t work for the company. I don’t get anything for it, but I found this. It’s water impregnated with nanobubbles, billions of them, of oxygen. It comes with these cute little Japanese sponges, and you impregnate the sponge with this stuff.
I wash my face, then I use this twice a day. I even take eye makeup off with it. And I use it on my patients with acne, and I love it. It keeps your face clean, fresh. You’re not depositing any sort of residue. And then you can put your actives on in the morning and at night like I do.
Again, I don’t get paid to say this. I just love it so much. I think I’m gonna start offering this in my office for my own patients.
DR. ELLEN GENDLER: SHOULD YOU WASH YOUR FACE IN THE MORNING?
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Ellen Gendler shares her perspective on morning cleansing and discusses AO2 CLEAR as an option for incorporating oxygen nanobubbles into a morning skincare routine.
Video Transcript
One of my very favorite skincare influencers recently posted a video saying she doesn’t think you need to wash your face in the morning. And though I rarely disagree with her on anything related to skincare, I do disagree with her about this. I think everyone should wash their face in the morning because usually you put your actives and your creams on at night. And though some of you may not be very oily, there’s definitely residue left on your face after you’ve slept on it.
So I think you should wash your face in the morning, at the very least when you take your shower. If you take a washcloth and get the grunge off your face, it’s a good way to start the day. Then you can put the rest of your things on. However, if you are one of those people who doesn’t believe in washing your face in the morning, and if you have no problem, I guess that’s fine. One thing you might consider rather than just splashing your face with water is to use the stuff that I like.
It’s called AO2 CLEAR, and it is water. It’s water impregnated with billions of nanobubbles of oxygen, which helps sort of debride your pores and helps rid the pores of bacteria. And I have no financial interest in this company, but I love this stuff, and I think that it works for acne patients.
But if you’re looking for a way not to wash your face with cleanser in the morning, this would be my suggestion. And you can get it online. It’s very easy. Not sponsored by the company, and not saying anything bad about the skincare influencer. We’re allowed to disagree, aren’t we?
DR. VALERIE HANFT: HOW AO2 CLEAR HELPS WITH RETINOIDS
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Valerie Hanft discusses common irritation associated with retinoids and shares how she personally incorporates AO2 CLEAR into her routine when using a retinoid.
Video Transcript
Dr. Valerie Hanft, board-certified dermatologist, and I’d like to discuss how AO2 CLEAR helps with retinoids. We all know the benefits of retinoids. That includes Retin-A, Differin, Tazorac, the generics, or tretinoin, adapalene, and tazarotene, and there’s a bunch of other brand names. Retinoids do a lot of wonderful things for the skin. They help with acne, large pores, fine lines, precancers. So they’re very important in a lot of skincare regimens.
But they are difficult to use in the beginning. What happens in the early days of using a retinoid is your skin appears to be a little bit more red, shed more frequently, get flaky. Oftentimes, people experience too much irritation to continue. As a dermatologist, I’ve always counseled patients to start very slowly. Use only a pea-size amount. Do it every third night. Use moisturizer. Inch up gradually. I myself have had a very difficult time acclimating to retinoids. I have never been able to get beyond every third night doing all of those things I mentioned until I tried AO2 CLEAR with my retinoid.
So this is how I incorporate retinoids into my own personal routine. I use AO2 CLEAR after washing my face. I allow the AO2 CLEAR to completely air dry. And I use a pea-size amount of my retinoid: forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose. Rub it in. I start every third night, as I used to in the past. But after a week, I was able to get to every other night. And after a few weeks, I’m doing it every night without any issue. So this is why I like to recommend AO2 CLEAR, especially when somebody is trying.
Note: Her final sentence appears to be cut off in the source transcript, so I left it exactly where the recording provided to you ends rather than completing the thought.
DR. JEN HALEY, MD, FAAD: THREE TIPS FOR BETTER TOLERATING A RETINOID
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Jen Haley shares three approaches for improving retinoid tolerance, including short-contact application, the moisturizer sandwich technique, and incorporating AO2 CLEAR into a skincare routine.
Video Transcript
Dr. Jen Haley here, board-certified dermatologist, and I wanna give you three tips on how to better tolerate your retinoid. So we know that retinoid, whether it’s retinol over the counter or a prescription-strength tretinoin, benefits your skin by reversing sun damage, by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, by lifting off pigmentation to even out your skin tone, and also to reduce plugged pores and acne and any blemishes you might have.
So we love retinoids, but they’re often hard to tolerate because during the process of removing and lifting off the dead skin cells, it can make your skin appear dry, red, and exfoliating. So what are three things that you can do in order to reduce this from happening? First, when you’re new with it, make sure you’re only using a pea-sized amount because it works through cell signals in the nucleus. You don’t need to have full coverage like a moisturizer. So apply to your forehead a dot, a dot to each cheek, a dot to your chin, and a dot to your neck, and blend it in. Avoid the creases in your nose, your eyes, your mouth, and the neck because it can pool there and become irritating.
First tip is to apply it for short contact, which means leave it on for 20 to 40 minutes, and then rinse it and apply the rest of your nighttime regimen. Tip number two is to do the sandwich technique. Now, the sandwich technique, you wanna apply a rich moisturizer to your entire face first, and your neck and your chest, because we always treat that as one unit. Then you apply your tretinoin. After it dries, you apply another layer of your moisturizer.
And step number three, which is my personal favorite, is to include AO2 in your skincare regimen. What you wanna do with this is after you cleanse at night, apply your AO2 to your skin. Let it dry completely and infuse into your skin layers. And then do any of the recommended applications of retinoids. And there you go.
DR. VALERIE HANFT: AO2 CLEAR DURING PREGNANCY AND NURSING
About This Video
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Valerie Hanft discusses the use of AO2 CLEAR during pregnancy, nursing, and while trying to conceive, particularly in the context of skincare options for acne.
Video Transcript
AO2 CLEAR is perfectly safe during pregnancy, nursing, and for those who are trying to conceive. I’m Dr. Valerie Hanft, board-certified dermatologist. The only active ingredients are nanobubbles of oxygen and distilled water, so there are no chemicals in this that could harm a pregnancy.
Many of the over-the-counter and prescription products available for treating acne have ingredients that are not safe in these scenarios. So AO2 CLEAR distinguishes itself in being perfectly natural and perfectly safe for all patient populations.
